We planned on attending Elijah’s (aka Peace) birthday party this weekend, but i totally forgot i had my dental appointment to replace a crown.  I did try to cancel the appointment, but it would’ve cost me $200!  So, needless to say, we ended up missing the big celebration.  But Team Clerici still wanted to celebrate with Elijah so, numb and all, we headed out to Fairfield to spend some time with the little guy.  He sported a Monster Truck crushing a number 3 on the back of his head (all courtesy of his dad, Dill the Barber).  So cute!  We also got a chance to spend some time with the family (minus Kebs and Dill) so that was nice.

The next day, we pretty much hung around the house and cleaned up as much as we could, but we got a little bored so we headed out somewhere, anywhere.  We decided we wanted to enjoy the rain a little bit so we attempted to get hot chocolate (ended up with sprite, milk and ice cream)  and then headed to the Bart Station’s parking lot to hear the rain hitting the roof of our car.  It was nice and peaceful.  Nikka had fun too.  She decided she would “drive” us places.  She took us to Disneyland, to the zoo, to work, to Walgreens.  It was so funny.  She can get so imaginative!  What’s even funnier is at some point I told her she was driving me nuts and to this she answered, “No, because i can’t drive.”

Okay, so I know the title sounded like I’d be discussing politics, but i won’t.  Instead, i’ve decided I will be voting “Nikka for President” and that’s it.  Anyways, back to the regularly scheduled programming.

Matt and I have noticed lately that Nikka does not like fighting.  She even has a sense of when Matt and I are being mean to each other, when we haven’t even raised our voices.  She’ll say, ” Stop being mean to daddy, mommy.”, or vice versa (although most of the time I seem to be the meanie- sorry Yun, I LOVE YOU!).  A couple of weekends ago, she witnessed her cousins being mean to each other and she told them, “Stop being fighters guys!”.  And then this weekend she did it again!  Wow.  What a great little girl we are raising here.  She’s a pacifist just like her daddy and I am so proud of her.  Some people have to go to school to become mediators, but some are just born with it, I guess.

Speaking of school, I’ve been thinking about preschool lately for Nikka since she’s almost at the point of eligibility.  There are a couple of schools we are considering, but how stressful is that?!  We scheduled an appointment to check out one of the preschools in our area yesterday.  The school director gave us a tour around the place and an idea of what we could expect on a daily basis.  The school was wonderful.  It even smelled clean!  The kids were well-behaved (as well as kids can be) and the staff seemed attentive.  Nikka was excited to see all the kids and wanted to go to school-NOW.  I of course reminded her that she’d need to be potty trained first.  Who ever thought school could be used as an incentive?

I am about 95% decided already on the school, but 5% of me is wondering how we can afford it.  So, Matt and I will be working on the financial thing, and will check out a couple more schools with hopes of coming to a decision before the end of the year.  Pray for us.  Parenting is scary and stressful…
